Best Forex Prop Firms 2026

Six forex prop firms we are comfortable recommending in 2026, picked from the 28 in our directory. How much does a forex prop firm actually cost?

Advertised prices are not what you pay. Several forex firms sell an evaluation for a few dollars and then charge an activation fee of several hundred once you pass — a $5 entry with a $589 fee on funding really costs $594. Every price on this site includes that fee, which is why our figures sometimes look higher than a firm's own landing page.

Across the 28 forex firms we track, a $100,000 account ranges from about $15 to $640 once activation is counted, with the middle of the field near $270. Price alone tells you very little: the cheapest programs usually carry tighter drawdown, a lower split, or a consistency rule that decides whether the payout actually arrives. Our cheapest prop firms ranking compares true cost, and the comparison tool shows what each low price costs you elsewhere.

How we pick the six

This is a shortlist, not a formula. We do not rank the 28 firms in our directory by score and publish the top six — the selection is editorial, and it comes down to three things.

  1. What traders actually report. Our community tells us when a firm pays on time and when it stops. That feedback carries more weight here than any published rule, because it is the part a firm cannot edit on its website.
  2. TrustPilot ratings and volume. Not the headline score alone — a 4.9 from 200 reviews means less than a 4.5 from 40,000. We read what recent reviews say about withdrawals specifically.
  3. Payout track record. Whether the firm has paid consistently over time, cross-checked against our on-chain payout tracker, which records real withdrawals as they settle.

A firm comes off this list if traders start reporting withheld payouts or it introduces predatory rule changes. The ones that already went are listed under firms that shut down and delisted firms. We earn affiliate commission when you fund an account through our links, and it plays no part in who makes this page.

Want a ranking instead of an opinion?

Our comparison tool scores every firm on price after activation fees, profit split, payout speed, drawdown terms, rule flexibility and scaling — calculated from published terms, with no editorial input. Use this page for a shortlist and that one for the maths.

Challenge or instant funding?

A challenge asks you to hit a profit target inside a drawdown limit, usually over one or two phases. Instant funding skips the evaluation and puts you on a funded account immediately, but costs more upfront and often carries a lower starting split or tighter rules.

Drawdown rules in forex, and why they decide everything

Drawdown type matters more than drawdown size. A static limit is fixed to your starting balance and never moves. A trailing limit follows your profit upward and never comes back down, so a 6% trailing limit can be tighter in practice than a 10% static one.

The trap

A 6% trailing limit can be tighter in practice than a 10% static one, because trailing follows your profit up and never comes back down. Compare the type before you compare the percentage.

Of the 28 forex firms here, 26 offer at least one static program and 22 offer an end-of-day trailing option — most sell both, so the type is a choice you make at checkout rather than a property of the firm. That is the opposite of futures prop firms, where trailing is close to universal. Check which one you are buying before comparing percentages.

Consistency rules: the clause that delays payouts

A consistency rule caps how much of your total profit may come from your best day. Clear the target with one strong trade and a 20% best-day rule can delay or deny the payout entirely. It is rarely on the sales page — it lives in the rules document.

23 of the 28 firms apply one on at least one program. If that is a dealbreaker, see firms with no consistency rule, or model your own numbers in the consistency calculator. Our guide to denied payouts covers what else goes wrong at withdrawal time.

Platforms, leverage and what you can trade

MT5 is the most widely supported platform across our directory, followed by cTrader, Match Trader and TradeLocker; MT4 is now the exception rather than the rule. Filter by platform with our guides to MT5, MT4, cTrader, Match Trader and TradingView firms.

TradeLocker11 firms

Leverage typically runs from 1:30 to 1:100, well above the retail caps in the EU (1:30) and US (1:50). Most firms cover the majors, minors, metals such as XAU/USD, and major indices. Personal Expert Advisors are widely permitted; fully automated third-party bots and copy trading between unrelated accounts usually are not.

Which firm suits your trading style?

Style is a better filter than any overall ranking. Scalpers should look at execution quality and news restrictions; swing traders need weekend and overnight holding; anyone taking their first account should start with beginner-friendly firms that avoid minimum trading days and hard time limits.

Location matters too, since payout methods and support hours differ: see our picks for US, UK, EU, Indian, Australian and African traders. If you would rather answer questions than read tables, the find your firm quiz takes about a minute.

Before you buy a challenge

Most traders fail evaluations for reasons that have nothing to do with the firm. Read how to pass a challenge and the mistakes that end most attempts first, then set your risk with our risk management guide and size positions with the position calculator.

When you are ready, check current forex deals for active discount codes before paying full price. After your first payout, scaling and running multiple accounts cover what experienced traders do next, and trading psychology covers the part that actually decides whether you keep the account.

Forex prop firm FAQs

The questions traders ask most before buying their first challenge.

Which forex prop firm is best in 2026?

There is no single best firm — it depends on how you trade. For skipping the evaluation, Ment Funding offers instant funding. For the longest payout track record, FTMO. For no time limits and splits reaching 100%, Funded Trading Plus. For account growth, The5ers. For the widest choice of programs, Alpha Capital. For short payout cycles, FundingPips. Compare all 28 firms on the comparison tool to filter by what matters to you.

How did you choose these six firms?

It is an editorial shortlist, not a calculated ranking. We weigh what traders in our community report about getting paid, TrustPilot ratings read alongside review volume, and each firm's payout history against our on-chain payout tracker. The account data on each card is separate and fully automated, read from the firm's published terms. If you want firms scored on the numbers rather than our judgement, use the comparison tool.

How much does a forex prop firm challenge cost?

For a $100,000 account the field runs from roughly $15 to $640 once activation fees are included, with the middle near $270. Smaller accounts start under $10 at several firms. Always check whether an activation fee is due when you pass — a $5 evaluation with a $589 activation fee costs $594, not $5. Our cheapest prop firms page ranks on true cost.

Do forex prop firms actually pay out?

The established ones do, and it is verifiable. We maintain an on-chain payout tracker that records real withdrawals as they settle, and we remove firms that stop paying. Payouts are most often delayed by rule breaches rather than refusal — usually a consistency rule or a drawdown breach the trader did not notice. See do prop firms actually pay out and why payouts get denied.

What profit split do forex prop firms offer?

Standard splits are typically 80% to 90%, with several firms advertising up to 100%. Read the conditions: the highest figure is often a paid add-on, a scaling reward, or tied to a consistency requirement. We show each firm's headline split and its per-program range separately so you can see what you get by default. See firms with the highest profit split.

What leverage do forex prop firms offer?

Most offer between 1:30 and 1:100, with a few going higher. That is well above retail caps in regulated regions — 1:30 in the EU and 1:50 in the US. Leverage is usually lower on funded accounts than during the evaluation, and lower again on metals and indices than on major currency pairs.

What is a consistency rule and will it stop my payout?

A consistency rule caps how much of your total profit may come from a single day or trade, commonly 20% to 50%. If you hit your target with one outsized win, the firm can delay the payout until profit is spread more evenly. 23 of the 28 firms we track apply one on at least one program. Check before you buy, or see firms with no consistency rule.

What is the difference between static and trailing drawdown?

A static drawdown fixes your maximum loss at the starting balance and never moves. A trailing drawdown follows your balance upward as you profit and never moves back down, so your effective buffer shrinks relative to your peak. End-of-day trailing recalculates once daily from your closing balance; intraday trailing tracks your peak in real time and is the strictest. Full detail in drawdown types explained.

Can I hold forex positions over the weekend?

It varies by firm and often by program within the same firm. Some allow weekend and overnight holding without restriction; others require flat positions by Friday close. News trading rules vary the same way, with many firms restricting entries around high-impact releases such as NFP and FOMC. Both are shown for every program in our rules comparison.

Are Expert Advisors and automated trading allowed?

Personal EAs and risk management tools are widely permitted. Fully automated third-party bots, latency arbitrage, tick scalping and copy trading between unrelated accounts are generally prohibited. Because the policy differs by program rather than by firm, filter by EA policy in the comparison tool before buying.

Which forex prop firm is best for beginners?

Look for forgiving drawdown, no minimum trading days, no hard time limit and clearly published rules. Firms without a consistency rule are also easier for a first payout. Start with the best prop firms for beginners and the beginner guide, and read how to pass a challenge before you buy.

Are the prices and rules on this page up to date?

Yes. Every price, rule and program is read directly from our individual firm review pages and rebuilds automatically whenever one of those pages changes, so this page cannot drift out of step with the reviews. TrustPilot ratings update live. The date under the firm cards shows when the underlying data last changed.

Can I trade with more than one prop firm at once?

Yes, and most experienced traders do — it spreads the risk of any single firm changing its rules or shutting down. Be aware that copy trading the same positions across accounts at different firms is prohibited by many of them. See running multiple prop firm accounts.
